Matthew 25 at Coon Rapids UMC began in January of 2021 when Pastor Dianna called a volunteer to ask them to do a particular job. The volunteer responded by saying that what they really wanted to do was feed people like Spirit River’s Matthew 25 in Isanti, where people from Coon Rapids UMC had been volunteering monthly for over a year. Despite having a budget of zero dollars to begin with, the first Matthew 25 food distribution at Coon Rapids UMC happened just three months later in January of 2021, in the middle of a pandemic.
God has blessed this ministry of generosity with many donors, to include EveryMeal, the Farmers to Families food program, Bergin Fruit & Nut Company, Starbucks, Auntie Annie’s, Panera Bread, Cub Foods, a “food angel,” food rescue options, grants, and much more… and many dedicated volunteers.
